Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister and convener of the Amarvi party, quoted the Ramayana during a rally, misrepresenting the role of King Ravan in Maa Sita’s abduction. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised Kejriwal for misinterpreting the Hindu epic, accusing him of being a ‘Chunavi Hindu’ and twisting the Ramayana. The BJP claimed that Kejriwal’s actions insulted their faith and Sanatan Dharma. Kejriwal responded by accusing the BJP of being descendants of Ravan and warned the people of Delhi to beware of them.
