Delhi Police oversaw the demolition of illegal encroachments around the century-old Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque near Turkman Gate following a court order. An unidentified speaker stated, ‘Five policemen have minor injuries. They are fine now. As soon as we get their medical papers, we will carry out legal proceedings on that basis.’ The late-night operation involved over 17 JCB machines and bulldozers, with approximately 30 bulldozers and 50 dumpers observed at the site. During the drive, a crowd of about 150 people gathered, leading to a stone-pelting incident. In response, police used tear gas to disperse the crowd and are now scrutinising body camera and CCTV footage to identify the accused. Reporters Arvind Ojha and Himanshu Mishra confirmed that the demolition resulted in the removal of a bank hall and a clinic. While the situation is currently under control, paramilitary forces remain deployed from Ramlila Ground to the mosque area. Delhi Police are also in the process of registering an FIR regarding the violence and injuries sustained by the officers.
