This special report covers the aftermath of a major explosion in a car near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort, which has left at least eight people dead and many more injured. Home Minister Amit Shah visited the blast site as a multi-agency probe involving the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Delhi Police is underway. The central question of the investigation is, ‘Was it an accidental detonation because of explosive material being carried on that car or was it a deliberate act?’ The blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 with a Haryana registration plate, prompting a search for the vehicle’s owner. Teams are currently examining forensic evidence and CCTV footage from the heavily crowded area, which is close to Chandni Chowk, to determine the exact cause of the powerful explosion.
