Delhi BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk has sent a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding that Delhi be renamed as Indraprastha. The MP argues that renaming the National Capital would restore its cultural and historical values, reflecting its ancient roots tied to the Pandavas and the Mahabharata era. Khandelwal has also proposed that statues of Pandavas should be installed at Purana Qila. Additionally, he has written to Delhi Chief Minister requesting that the Delhi Assembly also be renamed as Indraprastha Assembly. This is not the first time such a demand has been made. Indraprastha is the old name of the National Capital, rooted in ancient myths and royal legends. The MP has previously suggested renaming other landmark areas in Delhi as well.
