Heavy rainfall has once again battered Delhi, causing widespread waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The monsoon mayhem has led to a political blame game, with former Delhi Minister Sourabh Bhardwaj criticising Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Mukta for allegedly staying in her residence during the crisis. The Aam Aadmi Party has released a video showing completely waterlogged streets in the Chief Minister’s constituency, Shalimar Bagh. The situation extends beyond Delhi to the larger NCR region, where underpasses in Gurgaon are flooded. The Met department has issued an orange alert for Delhi and a red alert for the NCR region. The downpour has also exposed infrastructural issues, with cracks and potholes developing on major roads and highways. While some areas like ITO and Barapullah Pul reportedly ran smoothly this time, other parts of the city faced severe waterlogging and traffic jams.
