An investigation is underway into allegations of sexual abuse at an ashram in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area. Swami Chaitanyanand Saraswati, the director of the institution, is accused of sexually harassing numerous female students and is currently absconding. Statements of 32 female students have been recorded, with 17 alleging abuse that includes obscene messages and unwanted physical contact. A significant part of the complaint is that female staff members abetted the abuse. Victims allege that the "faculty pressurized the students to comply with the demands of the accused." Delhi Police have registered a case and are searching for the accused, whose last known location was Agra. It has also been reported that the accused has a prior criminal history, with FIRs filed against him in 2009 and 2016.
