In a brazen display of political opportunism, AIMPLB and the Congress have openly called for people to take to the streets against the Waqf Amendment Bill, deliberately fanning tensions instead of engaging in democratic debate. But the reality is far from their manufactured outrage. The bill is about transparency and accountability, ensuring that Waqf properties, spanning over six lakh acres across India, are not misused or monopolized by opaque institutions. Yet the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has gone as far as threatening a Shaheen Bagh-style agitation, with spokesperson Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas declaring, “We will hold a massive protest at Jantar Mantar on 17th March 2025.” This is a call for mass anarchy and mob coercion. Congress, instead of countering misinformation and street veto, enables it. Congress Senior leader Rashid Alvi legitimized the chaos, stating, “If they want to peacefully protest, they have all the rights to do so. They must say they will protest like farmers who shut down roads for two years and held sit-ins on the streets” But what exactly in this amendment justifies taking to the streets over a parliamentary debate? This is not a protest but an orchestrated attempt to ignite street unrest under the guise of resistance.The Congress & AIMPLB narrative is clear: resist the amendment at any cost, even if it means unrest. Congress has backed them declaring, “The Waqf bill is against the Muslim community. But where is the proof? What exactly in this amendment justifies street agitations over parliamentary debate? The real issue here is not minority rights, it is the fear of losing unchecked control over Waqf properties, spanning millions of crores in value. The Modi government’s attempt to streamline Waqf administration threatens the vested interests of those who have long used these properties as personal fiefdoms. By calling for mass protests, AIMIM, AIMPLB, and Congress are not defending democracy; they are challenging the very foundations of law and order.
