Following a ban on Cold Rift syrup, authorities in Uttar Pradesh have initiated statewide inspections of medical facilities. Drug inspectors are conducting raids on private medical stores and government suppliers, including at Lohia Hospital, to remove the syrup and other products from Srisan Pharmaceutical Company. The action comes after the syrup was linked to deaths in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu. The primary concern is the dangerously high level of diethylene glycol, a chemical preservative. According to one report, the component was found at 46.28% instead of the permissible 0.1%.
