Danish Kaneria, like many former Pakistan cricketers, is surprised and shocked at the current plight of the Pakistan cricket team. In a recent interview with Republic SportFit, he highlighted what he thought were the biggest issues within the side and it boiled down to 2 factors – a lack of world class bowlers and cliques within the dressing room.
He said that while the current crop of Pakistan bowlers are decent, they are not top among the best in the world and that is one of the reasons why they have struggled so much in Test cricket, particularly at home on flat decks which requires skillful bowlers.
Kaneria also ripped apart the current cricket team’s broken structure, saying there are too many players who think they are stars but are not. He touched upon how star players like Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi have ‘lobbies’ of their own and adds that this does not make for a harmonious dressing room.
He further says that the current team lacks big personalities yet is still being run by the players, meaning there will never be any form of control within the players. And the blame for this, in his opinion, lies with the Pakistan Cricket Board.
