The cyclone made landfall near Puducherry, causing the highest rainfall in 30 years. The downpour has caused severe flooding, particularly in residential areas. Rescue operations are underway, but are being hampered by the continued rainfall. Congress leader V. Narayanasamy criticised the government for its lack of preparedness.
