The Odisha government has temporarily suspended internet and social media services in parts of Cuttack city. This decision came on Sunday after reports of tension and violence between two groups. Platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, X & Instagram were specifically targeted to prevent the circulation of misinformation. Following the violence, the state imposed a 36-hour curfew across the city to restore calm. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) responded by calling for a 12-hour bandh on Monday. Odisha has previously used similar measures during communal tensions in Sambalpur in 2023 & Balasore in 2024. As the city gradually returns to normalcy, the government remains vigilant to ensure such incidents do not escalate further. Watch the video to know more on this!
