Indian T20 captain Surya Kumar Yadav has addressed the media ahead of the highly anticipated clash against Pakistan in Colombo, dismissing the notion of a traditional rivalry due to India’s dominant track record. Highlighting the statistical gap, Yadav noted that with India winning seven out of the last eight T20 World Cup encounters, ‘There’s clearly no rivalry that exists anymore’ when the numbers are so skewed. Addressing the threat of Pakistan’s unconventional bowler Usman Tariq, Yadav compared him to an ‘out of syllabus question’ in an exam, stating, ‘We can’t ignore it, tackle it. You have to try something.’ He emphasized that the team has been practicing specifically in night sessions to execute their plans against such unique actions. While fans across India perform hawans and special pujas for victory, the captain remains focused on maintaining India’s 13-3 lead in overall T20 head-to-heads. Despite earlier boycott threats and rain predictions, the match is set to proceed in Colombo.
