Banas Dairy, Asia’s largest dairy cooperative in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district, processes 1 crore litres of milk daily. Its turnover increased from 4,000 crore to 21,500 crore rupees in 10 years. The cooperative model has boosted farmer incomes, with 40 crore rupees deposited daily in animal owners’ accounts. Banas Dairy has diversified into biogas, cattle feed, and potato processing, while also focusing on animal health and breeding through advanced technologies. Madhya Pradesh aims to replicate the successful Banas Dairy model from Gujarat to transform its dairy sector. The state has signed a collaboration agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to improve milk collection, animal productivity, and farmer income.
