Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while campaigning in Kerala, accused the Congress and Communists of hypocrisy, stating that while they form alliances across India—in Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Assam, Delhi, and Tamil Nadu—they abuse each other in Kerala. He urged voters to be cautious of both parties. Modi claimed that under his government, Kerala received five times more central funding than during the Congress rule’s 10-year period, allocated for urban development, road construction, railway expansion, agriculture, Jal Jeevan Mission, and PM Awas Yojana. He alleged the state government misused these funds. Modi stated Kerala’s debt has exceeded five lakh crore rupees, tripling in the last decade, and accused the LDF government of corruption. He promised that an NDA government would recover misappropriated funds and utilise them for Kerala’s development.
