The Congress party has made a charge of massive vote manipulation in Thrissur during the elections. The party states that Suresh Gopi won the polls by manipulating the voters’ list. The Congress questions how the population of Thrissur grew two and a half times in five years. Allegations include large-scale voter registrations by using empty house and apartment addresses. This modus operandi was reportedly used in Bangalore. The Congress General Secretary stated that a detailed audit will be conducted into the voter list, including Thrissur and other constituencies in Kerala. The Left and Congress have raised serious allegations, claiming voters were added from nearby constituencies like Alatur and Tripunithara. The Congress also cited the example of 11 family members of Suresh Gopi, based in Thiruvananthapuram, voting in Thrissur. The Left alleges that the Election Commission added postal address proof as an option at the last minute to facilitate voter manipulation. Thrissur is the first seat the BJP won in Kerala in the last Lok Sabha election.
