More than 22,000 state school teachers took to the streets of Bogota on Monday, urging Congress to not approve a government-initiated bill proposing changes to the education system.
The teachers oppose, among other things, reforms in the financing of education, which, according to them, would grant public funds to private educational institutions.
They also oppose changing the evaluation of their abilities by including as a criterion the results obtained by students in state tests.
Congress will determine the fate of the bill in its last debate, before the legislature begins a recess period on June 20.
