A severe cold wave has gripped the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh, with Srinagar recording a low of -2.5°C and Dras plunging to -14°C. Amidst the freezing temperatures, the Indian Army has organized the ‘Winter Carnival 2025-26’ in Dras, the second coldest inhabited place on Earth. The event features winter sports like ice hockey, archery, and tent pegging. P.T. Kunzang, Vice President of the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh, thanked the Army for engaging the youth, stating, ‘This activity is necessary because you can see that the youths are moving towards social events.’ The carnival aims to promote winter games and cultural heritage.
