A devastating fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, Goa, has claimed 25 lives, prompting a massive investigation and a manhunt for the absconding owners, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra. While on the run, Saurabh Luthra released a statement saying, ‘I am in grief, and I stand by the victims.’ The tragedy has exposed severe safety violations, including the lack of a safe exit route, which led to most deaths by suffocation. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced a financial aid of ₹5 lakh for each victim’s family and ordered strict punitive action against the owners and any officials who issued permissions for the illegally constructed club. Four managers have been arrested, and a lookout notice is in effect for the Luthra brothers.
