The area, a tourist destination, has been flattened by a deluge that washed away houses, homestays, and restaurants. The incident originated at an estimated altitude of 12,600 feet above sea level, with flash floods starting at Sukhi Top. Dharali village was the worst affected area, where the deluge came crashing down. The Bhagirathi river was swollen, bringing down mud and silt, flattening the entire region.
