China has launched the Closeby Habitable Exoplanet Survey (CHES) mission to search for nearby Earth-like planets. Using advanced micro-arcsecond relative astrometry, CHES will measure how orbiting exoplanets impact their stars, helping scientists determine if they can support life. With over 5,000 exoplanets already discovered, this mission aims to find habitable worlds closer to Earth. Led by Ji Jianghui from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), CHES is part of China’s Strategic Priority Research Program. This groundbreaking mission could pave the way for future space exploration and human expansion beyond Earth!
