An attempt was made to throw a shoe at the Chief Justice of India inside his courtroom during proceedings. The individual, identified as a lawyer, was overpowered by security personnel while shouting, "we will not tolerate the insult of Sanatan." The incident is reportedly connected to a case concerning a beheaded Vishnu Idol that the Chief Justice had declined to hear. Despite the disruption, the Chief Justice remained calm, stating "these things do not affect me," and continued with the court hearing. Following the incident, the Chief Justice held a meeting with the Supreme Court’s Secretary General and security officials to determine the course of action. Lawyers’ bodies, including the SCBA and SCAOR, have condemned the act, with the Supreme Court AOR association suggesting the court initiate contempt proceedings against the lawyer.
