A protest against ICE immigration action in Los Angeles has taken a dramatic turn as US President Donald Trump decided to deploy 2,000 National Guard members in a move critics have called excessive. The protests, which started peacefully enough as a pushback to ICE arrests in the area, have now turned violent in parts, with vehicles being set on fire and shops being looted. At least 3 police officers have been injured and around 60 protesters have been arrested as authorities attempt to bring the situation under control. At the same time, critics, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, have blamed Donald Trump for needlessly escalating the issue by deploying the National Guard forces.
