He contrasted the 1962 approach with India’s current military strategy, as seen in Operation Sundur in 2025, where forces are given a "free hand". The CDS also commented on the uniform application of the "forward policy" in different terrains like Ladakh and the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA), now Arunachal Pradesh. The comments highlight a significant transformation in India’s defence policy.
