The court highlighted the lack of substantial developments in the state police’s investigation and the potential risk of evidence being destroyed, leading to the decision to involve the CBI.
The tragic incident, which occurred in a seminar hall at the hospital, has sparked widespread protests among medical professionals and students in West Bengal. The court has also ordered Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, to go on leave, criticizing his reappointment at another medical institution.
