The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s order suspending the life sentence of Unnao rape convict Kuldeep Sengar. The agency termed the High Court’s finding that Sengar was not a ‘public servant’ at the time of the offence as ‘perversive’. Speaking exclusively to India Today’s Rajdeep Sardesai, the Unnao rape survivor expressed fear for her life, stating, ‘Hamein dar hai Sengar kahin bhi pahunch sakte hain.’ She questioned the bail, citing the murder of her father and the 2019 accident. Protests have erupted outside the Delhi High Court demanding the cancellation of the bail.
