A theatre in Oakville, Canada, canceled screenings of Indian films following two violent attacks within a week. The first incident on September 25th involved an attempt to set fire to the theatre’s entrance, while a shooting attack occurred on October 2nd. Officials have reportedly linked the targeted violence to the theatre’s programming of South Asian movies. In response to the incidents, the theatre has halted the screening of two Indian films as a precautionary measure. The theatre’s CEO, Jeff Lall, affirmed their resolve, stating, “we’re not going to cave into petty criminal thugs who are trying to stop us from playing South Asian movies.” The establishment has since implemented 24-hour security and remains open for business. The report also highlights that there is suspicion of Khalistani elements being involved in such activities in Canada.
