Cambodian Civilians Trapped Between War and Heatwave | Water Shortages in Border Camp
📍 ODDAR MEANCHEY, CAMBODIA — Hundreds of displaced Cambodians crowded around a water truck on Saturday at the Battkhao Resettlement Camp, as temperatures soared in northern Cambodia near the Thailand border.
💣 The ongoing border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia has killed at least 33 people and displaced more than 168,000, triggering a humanitarian crisis with no ceasefire in sight.
🚚 Families who fled from towns like O’Smach are now packed into makeshift tents, facing scorching heat, limited food, and desperate water shortages.
🗣 “I want peace between our countries,” said Pheap La, a grandmother who fled with her grandchildren. “I don’t want this violence to continue.”
⚠️ As both governments blame each other for fresh attacks, the international community is urging an immediate ceasefire before the crisis worsens.
