Bypolls on 13 Assembly seats across seven states were held in the country in the first crucial electoral exercise after the general elections. The polling was held to elect Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) after the seats had got vacant when sitting lawmakers contested the election for Lok Sabha.
