Business Today: US-India Trade Deal Contours Suggest It Is A Good Deal For India | India Today

On the Business Today Show, Sharad Awasthi, Head of Research at BCG Smiths, shared a positive outlook on the Indian markets following the US administration’s softened trade stance. He noted, ‘I think gradually more and more contours of the deal are coming out and they seem to suggest that it is probably a good deal for India.’ Awasthi expects nervousness surrounding the deal to subside, highlighting that quarterly earnings have been largely positive. He specifically projected that the mid-cap and small-cap segments would outperform in terms of profit growth over the next six to seven months. Regarding specific stocks, he advised investors to hold Eicher Motors with a target of 8,000-8,100 rupees, citing robust demand for Royal Enfield models. While acknowledging Britannia’s strong brand and 17% profit rise, he cautioned that FMCG valuations remain high, suggesting a ‘buy on dips’ strategy. Awasthi also identified the IT sector, including TCS and Infosys, as attractive contra bets due to current AI-related uncertainties.
