Briefing: Govt Increases Commercial LPG Allocation To 50%, Assures Sufficient Stocks Available

The Indian government has increased the allocation of commercial LPG to 50% of the requirement, prioritising restaurants, dhabas, hotels, industrial canteens, food processing industries, dairies, subsidised canteens, community kitchens, and migrant labour outlets. Under the Ujjwala scheme, approximately 11 lakh migrant connections have been made, with 73,000 new connections in recent months. Over 20,000 5kg cylinders were distributed yesterday. Twenty-four states and Union Territories have issued allocation orders for commercial LPG, with approximately 18,700 tonnes lifted till yesterday. The government has urged citizens not to believe rumours, assuring that sufficient stocks are available and LPG cylinders are being supplied to all domestic consumers. PNG supply to domestic consumers remains at 100 percent without any cuts. Officials emphasised that coordination with state governments and oil marketing companies is ongoing to ensure priority supply.
