Iran has issued a stark warning that it will treat any US attack as an "all-out war against us," reacting sharply to the reported US military build-up in the Middle East, including the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group, F-15E Strike Eagles, and allied assets like UK Typhoon jets. A senior Iranian official emphasised that Iran’s military remains on high alert and prepared for the worst-case scenario, vowing a "hard response" to any aggression. The warnings come amid escalated regional tensions, partly linked to US-backed Israeli strikes in June 2025 targeting Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs, as well as domestic unrest in Iran, where protests over economic hardship and repression have resulted in over 5,000 deaths and 27,600 detentions.
The Iranian leadership, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Revolutionary Guards commanders, has accused the US and Israel of exploiting the internal protests and intervening to destabilize the country. In response, Iranian officials have threatened to target US interests if attacked. US President Donald Trump has confirmed the military movements as precautionary, stating the US is "closely monitoring" Iran while keeping options open. The exchange has heightened fears of direct confrontation in an already volatile region, with both sides trading accusations amid ongoing protests and strategic military posturing.
