United States President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, threatening to obliterate the country’s electric generating plants, oil wells and Kharg Island if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened immediately for business. Writing on Truth Social, Trump claimed the US is in serious discussions with a new and more reasonable Iranian regime to end military operations. He stated that great progress has been made, but warned of severe retribution for American soldiers killed by Iran over 47 years. The threat comes as Israel intensifies its operations against Iran, with airstrikes reported as far as the Caspian Sea coast. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio outlined four key objectives: destroying Iranian air defence, air force, navy, missile launch capacity, and industrial base. While Trump claims back-channel talks are ongoing, Iran has denied any direct engagement with the United States. Israel has indicated no intention of de-escalation at this time.
