Breaking: Security Breach At White House Premises, Phone Thrown Over Security Fence
The White House was placed under lockdown on Tuesday afternoon after an object was thrown over the fence onto the North Lawn, prompting an immediate response from the U.S. Secret Service. Members of the press covering events outside were swiftly ushered into the briefing room as agents secured the area and closed Pennsylvania Avenue to the public.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred when an unidentified object landed on the North Lawn, triggering heightened security protocols. A source familiar with the situation told The Hill that the park and the White House grounds were quickly locked down while the object was assessed.
Roughly 30 minutes later, the Secret Service issued an all-clear, and journalists were allowed back onto the North Lawn. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later confirmed that the object in question was a cellphone thrown over the fence, though she did not elaborate on whether the individual responsible was apprehended.
The scare came just days after the one-year anniversary of the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania — a reminder of the sensitive security climate around the nation’s most heavily guarded residence.
