According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed displeasure during a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday regarding content related to corruption in the judiciary mentioned in a class 8 textbook. Sources indicate the Prime Minister questioned what is being taught to class 8 students about judicial corruption and asked who is overseeing the content. The controversy centres around a particular chapter in an NCERT textbook that spoke about corruption within the judiciary. The Supreme Court has taken cognisance of the matter and issued a show-cause notice to the government and NCERT, coming down heavily on both entities. The government has already apologised in court over the issue, which had been the subject of a furor before the apex court’s intervention.
