Intelligence agencies are monitoring donations collected in Kashmir for Iran amid concerns over possible fund diversion. Security sources report that crowdfunding campaigns across the Kashmir valley, triggered by appeals from Iran and religious leaders, have collected valuables, cash, and jewellery worth hundreds of crores. The donations were collected spontaneously by different organisations and individuals without any structured system. Intelligence officers have received inputs suggesting possible misappropriation and diversion of funds. While it remains unclear whether anti-India elements are involved or if it is a case of fraud by opportunistic individuals, security forces are investigating to ensure the funds are not diverted for anti-India activities. The crowdfunding continues even as agencies scan and monitor the collections to identify any misappropriation and take action against individuals involved. The Iranian embassy had earlier advised donors to contribute only through the official Bank of Iran embassy channel.
