This communication breakdown is posing major challenges for people trying to contact relatives and is also impacting rescue and relief operations. The army and the State Disaster Response Force (STRF) are conducting rescue missions in the Jammu area. Rivers are overflowing and nearing the danger mark. The neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh is also facing monsoon havoc, particularly in Kullu and Manali. In Kullu, a building was swept away by raging waters.
