The India bloc is in the process of selecting its Vice President candidate. Mallikarjun Kharge has been entrusted with the task of finalising the name. Sources indicate an ideological war over the BJP’s Vice President candidate, leading the DMK to favour a candidate from Tamil Nadu. The name of Padmashree M. Anna Durai, an eminent scientist, was also discussed in the meeting, mentioned by Professor Ram Gopal Yadav. Leaders considered candidates from Bihar due to upcoming Vidhan Sabha polls and the SIR issue, or from Tamil Nadu. A third option involved a candidate from Andhra Pradesh to put the TDP in a similar situation as the NDA has put the DMK. The opposition has a consensus on fielding a Vice President candidate.
