A major protest unfolded in Thrissur today as the BJP took out a march to the Commissioner’s office. Police deployed multiple rounds of water cannons to disperse the workers, who attempted to break barricades. This demonstration follows a clash yesterday between CPIM and BJP workers. The initial confrontation stemmed from allegations against Suresh Gopi and the BJP concerning voter list manipulation in his constituency. Yesterday, CPIM workers marched to Suresh Gopi’s office, where black oil was poured on a signboard. Subsequently, BJP workers marched to the CPI district committee office. The police intervened to separate the groups amidst sloganeering. While police reported no injuries, the BJP stated some of its workers were injured and hospitalised.
