Multiple loud explosions were heard near the nuclear facility and airbase in Isfahan, Iran, hours after Iran claimed the site had been repeatedly targeted by the US and Israel. The International Atomic Energy Agency had earlier denied these claims. Reports indicate that 2,500 sites have been identified for strikes, with Isfahan and Natanz being targeted again within eight months. Mitchell Plitnick, an analyst, stated that ‘this war is absolutely and fundamentally illegal under international law,’ arguing that there was no immediate threat of an Iranian nuclear weapon and that the assessment of US national intelligence since 2007 has not changed. He noted that Iran has never used missiles in an offensive first strike manner and lacks intercontinental missile technology. The broadcast highlighted debates over whether dialogue should have been pursued further instead of military action.
