BREAKING LIVE: Over 42 Indian Pilgrims Killed In Mecca After Bus Collides With Diesel Tanker
At least 42 individuals lost their lives in a fiery crash when a bus transporting Umrah pilgrims slammed into a fuel tanker close to Medina, Saudi Arabian local outlets reported on Monday. The deceased are thought to be citizens of India, many of whom hailed from Hyderabad.
The Telangana administration announced that it is maintaining communication with the Indian Embassy in Riyadh. In its formal release, the state noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has notified central authorities in New Delhi and directed them to work in close collaboration with embassy personnel.
Asaduddin Owaisi, the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad, stated on Monday that 42 pilgrims en route from Mecca to Medina for Hajj were aboard a bus that burst into flames. He urged the central government to take swift measures in response to the tragic incident.
Owaisi mentioned that he had reached out to Abu Mathen George, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, who promised to collect details on the case. He further revealed that he had gotten in touch with two travel firms based in Hyderabad and forwarded the list of passengers to both the Riyadh Embassy and the Foreign Secretary.
