BREAKING LIVE: Calcutta HC Pulls Up Bengal Govt, Sets March 31 Deadline for BSF Border Fencing
In a strong message to the West Bengal government, the Calcutta High Court has ordered the immediate handover of land to the BSF for fencing along the India–Bangladesh border, warning that there should be “no more delays.” The court flagged repeated administrative bottlenecks across nine border districts, calling the situation a matter of national security.
The High Court has directed the Mamata Banerjee-led government to transfer already acquired land to the BSF by March 31 and submit a detailed action taken report on pending and fresh land acquisitions. The court stressed that prolonged delays were unacceptable, especially in sensitive border areas vulnerable to infiltration and smuggling.
