BMC Polls: Ramdas Athavale’s RPI To Fight 38 Seats Alone, Accuses BJP Of ‘Betrayal Of Trust’

In a major development ahead of the Mumbai civic elections (BMC), Union Minister Ramdas Athavale’s Republican Party of India (RPI) has announced it will contest 38 seats independently. Speaking to India Today, reporter Mustafa Shaikh confirms that Athavale has accused the BJP of a ‘betrayal of trust’ after failing to reach a consensus on seat-sharing. The RPI will engage in a ‘friendly fight’ on these seats while supporting the Mahayuti alliance elsewhere. The move comes as the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) secured 62 seats in an alliance with the Congress, adding pressure on the RPI to assert its political presence.
