BMC Election Results 2026 Live Updates: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance is headed for a big victory in the state’s municipal elections which were held on Thursday. Counting of votes started at 10 am Friday. The most crucial of these election is the polling in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which is India’s richest civic body while one of the richest in Asia.
Current trends show that the of the 227 wards in the BMC, the Mahayuti alliance is leading in 116, followed by the Shiv Sena (UBT) alliance which has secured lead in 85 wards.
Maharastra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called up state BJP chief Ravindra Chauhan, congratulating him on the alliance’s massive lead in the municipal polls. In a post on X, Chief Minister Fadnavis said, "BJP writes history once again at the Municipal Corporation Election 2025-26!"
