A 21-year-old man in Lucknow allegedly shot his father dead and dismembered the body following a heated argument over pressure to crack the NEET medical entrance exam. On 20th February, inside a house in Asiana locality, Akshat Singh allegedly fired his father Manvendra Singh’s licensed rifle, killing the liquor businessman on the spot. Police say the son then dragged the body downstairs and attempted to dispose of it in the Gomti river. When that failed, he allegedly bought a saw, dismembered the body, and stuffed the head and torso inside a blue plastic drum inside the house. Hands and legs were dumped elsewhere. The victim’s minor daughter reportedly witnessed the aftermath but was allegedly threatened and confined for days. Suspicion grew when CCTV footage showed the father entering the house but never leaving. Police interrogation led to the recovery of body parts from multiple locations. Akshat Singh has been arrested and charged with murder and destruction of evidence.
