Bihar Voter List War: Rahul Gandhi and CM Mamata Slam EC; BJP Cries "Rohingya" Foul | India Today

A political battle has erupted over the Election Commission’s special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the commission of deliberately removing the names of the poor, farmers, and Congress-RJD supporters from the voter lists. Echoing these concerns, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged a similar plan for her state, vowing to oppose it. She stated, "I heard in Bihar, they took out 30.5 lakh votes, by doing this Maharashtra won the elections… Bihar is also planning this… We will fight inch by inch." In response, the BJP has accused Banerjee of trying to protect Rohingya Muslims and stated that the opposition should focus on winning votes rather than raising objections. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has described the revision as a "much needed cleaning" of the electoral rolls.
