This special report covers the eruption of violence in Gopalganj, Bihar, where a mob set a police vehicle on fire following a road accident. According to India Today’s Rohit Singh, ‘this rumor spread that all these three youth had lost their lives after which the local people who of that area got infuriated and in fact they went on a rampage’. The incident occurred at the Jadavpur turn when three youths on a bike were injured in a collision. Rumours of their deaths led to locals going on a rampage, torching a police jeep. The Sadar SDPO arrived at the scene, and police used tear gas to control the situation, arresting over a dozen people involved in the violence. The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital.
