In Bihar, the Congress party has launched a campaign to distribute free sanitary pads to approximately five lakh women across the state. The initiative, aimed at wooing women voters ahead of the upcoming state elections, has triggered a political controversy. The sanitary pad packets feature a photo of Rahul Gandhi along with the Congress’s election promise of providing Rs 2,500 per month to women from poor families. The BJP has criticised this move, accusing the Congress of copying the RJD’s model of politics. The Congress, in turn, has defended its action, stating it’s addressing a crucial need in the modern world and accusing the BJP of having an anti-woman mindset. The party also claimed that the BJP had earlier planned to showcase sindoor boxes featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the launch of Operation Sindoor.
