Reports suggest US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are negotiating with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, with Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt reportedly involved in back-channel talks. However, Iran has denied these reports. Despite Trump’s announcement, Israel continues its military operations against Iran, signalling disagreement with the US approach. Trump had previously threatened to attack Iran’s largest power plant, valued at over ten billion dollars, if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened. The temporary pause provides relief for Gulf countries and allows shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to continue, though uncertainties remain about the sustainability of this arrangement.
