The 18th Lok Sabha will continue for the second session on Tuesday, with Om Birla set to return as the Lok Sabha Speaker. The BJP-led NDA and the Opposition reached a consensus on the Speaker’s post and the latter decided not to field its candidate, paving the way for Birla to be elected unopposed. Speaking to reporters, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, however, said that the convention is that the Deputy Speaker’s post be given to the Opposition.
