Big Modi-Starmer Bilateral Meet In Mumbai: Trade, Tech & Tensions Over Fugitives | India Today News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Keir Starmer met in Mumbai to further the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as outlined in the Vision 2035 roadmap. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, technology, defence, and education, with both leaders participating in the India-UK CEO Forum and the Global FinTech Fest 2025. While a Free Trade Agreement is central, one point of contention remains visas, with the UK Premier having said that relaxation "is not going to be on the table in terms of relaxation at this point in time." India also raised its security concerns regarding economic fugitives and Khalistani elements in the UK. The visit also highlighted educational collaboration, with UK universities planning to establish campuses in India, and cultural ties, marked by Starmer’s visit to Yash Raj Films. The talks cover futuristic topics including AI and FinTech.
